Build

We've shipped systems still running a decade later.

Custom software, AI agents and automation for real business problems. We design, build and run production systems — not prototypes. We ship working software that scales from a first version to national platforms.

In plain terms

Build is for the problem off-the-shelf software won't solve. The workflow that's still run on a spreadsheet and three people's memory. The manual process that should have been automated years ago. The idea that needs to actually exist.

We design, build and run it — properly, in production, not as a demo that falls over the first real week. We've shipped software still quietly doing its job a decade later, and a national-scale platform that handled millions of calls a day. We don't hand over the code and vanish.

There's a wave of firms who downloaded an AI coding tool last year and now call themselves developers. We've been building software for 25 years — shipped at national scale before AI existed, and since. The tools are new; the engineering discipline isn't. We know where software architecture goes wrong because we've built it by hand, and that's what keeps an AI-assisted build secure, reliable and still standing a year on, instead of a slick demo with nothing behind it. Don't trust your data to a hope and a promise.

How we work

No mystery, no theatre

  1. 01

    A real conversation

You talk to someone who does the work, not a salesperson. We figure out what's actually going on before anyone quotes anything.

  2. 02

    We map what you've got

A proper look at your systems, your risks and what's quietly costing you. You get a plain-English picture, whether or not you sign up.

  3. 03

    Agreed before we start

Scope and price on the table up front. No surprise invoices, no scope creep you didn't approve.

  4. 04

We run it, and we answer

Day to day, you get the person who fixes it. No tier-one call centre reading from a script, no ticket vanishing into a queue.

Ways to work with us

Pick the shape that fits

Fully managed

We're your IT department. No internal IT person to hire, no helpdesk to staff — you call us, we own it end to end.

Co-managed

You've got an IT person or a small team. We back them up: cover the gaps, take the heavy and after-hours work, and give them senior people to lean on.

By the project

A migration, a build, a security uplift, a one-off. Scoped, priced and delivered, with no ongoing commitment required.

Whichever shape fits, it's month-to-month. No multi-year lock-in. Clients stay because the work holds up, not because a contract says they have to.

millions of calls / day

NZ's first elastically scalable visual voicemail — designed, built and run fully in-house, at national scale across New Zealand, the UK and the US.

Common questions

Straight answers

Why custom software instead of something off the shelf?

Most of the time off-the-shelf is the right call, and we'll say so. Custom is for the problem no product fits — the workflow that's uniquely yours, the integration nothing supports, the thing that's still run on a spreadsheet because nobody's built the alternative.

Do you just build it and disappear?

No. We run what we build. Some of our software has been in production for over a decade and we still look after it. Code with nobody behind it is a liability, not an asset.

Is the AI real or just a buzzword?

Real, and only where it earns its place. We build AI agents that actually replace manual work, predictive models against your data, and plain-language tools over systems you already run. If a plain script does the job better, we build the script.

Everyone offers AI development now. What makes you different?

Twenty-five years of shipping production software, before AI and since. Plenty of firms picked up an AI coding tool last year and started calling themselves developers — we use the same tools, we just bring the experience to know where they bite. Real architecture, security designed in, best practice that holds up under load. The new tools are genuinely powerful: in the hands of people who've built systems by hand for decades, they sing; in the hands of a hope and a promise, they're a liability with your data attached.

Can you work with the systems we already have?

Yes — that's usually the job. We build things that connect to what you run, not rip-and-replace projects that start by throwing out what already works.

How do we know it'll scale?

Because we've done it. We built NZ's first elastically scalable visual voicemail platform, which handled millions of calls a day across New Zealand, the UK and the US. Scale is an architecture decision we make at the start, not a problem we discover later.
